Katy English and Gabrielle Bradshaw trained at Camberwell School of Art both leaving with a degree in Fine Art Sculpture.

On leaving college Gabrielle landed a job co-presenting the BBC 1 art programme "Hartbeat’ with Tony Hart. After 5 series’ she left to present her own show ‘5 Minute Wonder’ for Thames Television and has since worked on childrens and arts programmes across all channels, including How 2 (CITV), Write Away (C4), Art Attack (CITV), Housecall (BBC 1), Parallel 9 (BBC1), Meet the Challenge (BBC1) and Rainbow (Thames). She also co-wrote and presented Havakazoo for Channel 5, 156 half hour programmes over a two year period.

After college Katy continued her work as a Sculptor setting up her own studios in South London. Working in plaster, resin and concrete her sculptures were well suited to gardens and she received many commissions for site specific work. One of her sculptures made up the centre piece to one of the gardens at the Chelsea Flower Show.

In 1992, after collaborating on some children's art films for the BBC, Gabrielle and Katy set up
Makendoo to encourage children of all ages to develop their creative skills.

Makendoo has now been running workshops for over 14 years, and has travelled as far afield as Singapore and the Arab Emirates. Gabrielle and Katy have hugely enjoyed building up a business which now has a team of 10 trained workshop leaders enabling them to cover a varied and exciting programme of events throughout the year.
